Top 5 Holiday Events And Attractions in Dallas

Whether you just moved to Dallas or have been here for years, the holiday season in this city is a magical time. From Thanksgiving to New Year’s, there’s something for everyone to do, both in the downtown area and in the surrounding suburbs. So if you’re looking for some fun events to attend just before and after Christmas, here’s a look at a few of the most popular options in Dallas.

Zoo Lights at the Dallas Zoo

If your idea of a great holiday evening is checking out millions of twinkling Christmas lights, head to the zoo for Dallas Zoo Lights. At 5 pm on select evenings from November 16 until January 1 every year, the animals go inside to go to bed early, and the sparkling lights come out to have some fun. At this Dallas holiday attraction, you’ll see more than one million lights as you stroll around the zoo. You’ll also have a chance to make ornaments, get pictures with Santa, see animal-shaped lanterns and more!

Six Flags Over Texas Holiday in the Park

Okay, so we know roller coasters don’t exactly scream "holiday fun." But trust us; Six Flags goes all out for this season! When you go to this Arlington theme park between November 16 and December 30, you’ll be met with a beautiful winter wonderland full of colorful lights and even snow. That’s right; snow in Texas! You can sled down the Frosty Snowhill, giving you a chance to have a magical white Christmas without having to actually shovel snow. At Six Flags Over Texas Holiday in the Park, there’s also a Christmas train, live holiday-themed shows, crafts, s’mores and more! Plus all the thrill rides you can handle, of course.

Christmas Capital of Texas

If you just moved to Dallas, you might not know about the suburb that’s considered the "Christmas Capital of Texas." Otherwise known as Grapevine, this city starts transforming into a magical place on Thanksgiving weekend, with holiday decorations, Christmas trees and lights everywhere. As you stroll down the streets of Grapevine during the holidays, you’ll see light shows, carolers, ice-skating and much more. In fact, the Christmas Capital of Texas proudly offers 1,400 holiday events in 40 days! So you’ve got to take the short drive to this Dallas suburb for Christmas fun with the family.

Christmas in the Square at Frisco Square

Another local suburb that really knows how to celebrate the holidays is Frisco. When you head to Frisco Square, you’ll see more than 175,000 lights that "dance" to music, plus you can grab a carriage ride, go ice skating, make your way through a Christmas tree maze and more. Christmas in the Square runs from November 23 to December 31, and it’s free to walk around and just enjoy the twinkling lights, music and overall Christmas spirit!

Reunion Tower Over the Top NYE 2018

You can’t let the holiday season go by without celebrating New Year’s Eve in Dallas. One of the biggest events to look forward to is the fireworks show at the Reunion Tower, which will start at 11:59 pm on December 31. You can watch the fireworks from several nearby venues that will be hosting events and drink specials that night, such as the Old Red Museum, Happiest Hour and Saint Rocco’s New York Italian restaurant.
